Appeal for Kerala Flood Relief

BE A HELPING HAND AT THE TIMES OF THE DISASTROUS FLOOD

The incidents taking place at Kerala won’t leave anybody without tears. One was holding the entire family in a single blanket at Angamly while the flood took their lives. Another family from Chettiyampaadam left only one to live in this world while the rest five submitted to death. Many have lost either their parents or children or brothers or sisters or all of them...

The unprecedented havoc that hit Kerala was never anticipated and thus the rescue missions become only partially effective. the death toll has crossed 324. More than 20,000 houses have been destroyed completely and many more partially ravaged. Many have lost their means of livelihood. More than 223139+ is currently residing in temporary rescue camps. 215+ Landslides, 441+ Villages under water, many thousands of families are under the threat of evacuation. The transport system is completely wrecked where roads and railways are stuck. The loss up to now has been estimated as Rs. 19512 crores. These Statics are just officially declared, the reality is much more horrific. This is a time when all of us have to join hands. The extent to which the government can help is very limited.

It is quite a matter of pride and satisfaction that a huge chunk of volunteers are active in the ground with all the help they can provide. The temporary rehabilitation measures are to be highly appreciated. Human Welfare Trust along with its partner organization in Kerala specially Peoples Foundation is employing long-term plans to rehabilitate the affected on the priority basis. The Trust will prioritize the areas where the official rescue units are unable to reach or where the rescue groups are inefficient. We strongly believe that you have the big part to play in this effort to bring back the affected to their life. We promise that any amount you pay won’t go void.
